Discover Jesus’ Authority…and Yours

What an empowering and emboldening truth it is to consider that God gave us His authority since the start of time:

Genesis 1:27-28 (NIV)
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule…

In these first sentences spoken by Father God over our lives… He not only gave us a destiny- purpose of increase and fruitfulness; He also gave us authority to outwork this responsibility. Be fruitful. Increase. Subdue Creation. RULE…

How does it make you feel to know that God has intended you to be a person of authority, in charge of your life and decisions, empowered to partner with Him in kingdom expansion?

In light of this authority that God has promised is yours, what areas of your life do you want to exercise greater spiritual authority over? Refusing victimhood any longer, where do you want to see increased victory and progress?

Christ’s radical message was of a meta-level change. His was a Kingly Coming. Jesus came to proclaim His Father’s Kingdom, displaying a rule and reign that took back enemy terrain; with every step and miracle showing His authority, as both Son of God and Son of Man.

What do the following scriptures teach you about Jesus’ authority?

Isaiah 9:6-7a (NIV)
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever…

Luke 11:20 (NIV)
But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Matthew 9:6, 8 (NIV)
…I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” When the crowd saw this, they… praised God, who had given such authority to man.

Mark 1:21b-28 (NIV)
Jesus went into the synagogue and… The people were amazed… because he taught them as one who had authority… The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”

What do the following scriptures teach you about your authority, as a believer?

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Mark 16:17-18, 20 (NIV)
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word…

Matthew 18:18-20 (NIV)
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

After listening to this message in its entirety, you will have heard Ps. Luke’s encouragement after the message conclusion to identify an area personally that you want to begin praying into with authority. Because, in a world where we can so often feel like we’ve been swept up in a spiritual storm, there really is a way to fight back! When circumstances rage around us, like a hellish dizzying tempest, Jesus offers answers to reclaim our spiritual sure-footing! Jesus came to put back into your hands the Kingdom Keys you need to start reclaiming yourspiritual authority from the enemy.

What is an area of your life, where you have experienced spiritual attack in, that you are wanting to see restoration and recompense through authoritative prayer?

Here are some scriptures that you could start praying with authority, to see restoration and recompense in your life:

James 4:7 (NIV)
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

John 10:10 (TPT)
A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I (Jesus) have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect —life in its fullness until you overflow!

Proverbs 6:31 (NIV)
[If a thief] is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.

Revelation 12:10 (NIV)
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

Ephesians 6:14-18 (TPT)
Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph. Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart. Stand on your feet alert, then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of peace. In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one! Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.

Isaiah 61:1-3, 7 (Amplified Bible)
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me To bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives And freedom to prisoners, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God… To grant… The oil of joy instead of mourning, The garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice, and right standing with God], The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Instead of your [former] shame you will have a double portion; And instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited]; Everlasting joy will be theirs.
